Anthony Perez sent in the below information!

"I began with the Maverick Club in 1991/1992 wrestling for Johnny Cobb,

Steve Nelson, Henry Harmoney, and George Dodgen. Of course

there were many others helping out throughout the years,

Brandon Slay, McLamb, Littlejohn, Jones, Lea...

Oh the memories and lessons, the trips and tournaments. I

frequently think of or are reminded of those good times

and great friends.

I graduated from Tascosa in 1997 and received scholarships

to help me go to Kemper Military Academy in Missouri. There

I wrestled and maintained a 3.89 GPA. I moved back to Amarillo

and enrolled at WTAMU starting a club wrestling program for

the first time at the school with the help of some old

Maverick friends; Johnny Cobb, Dennis Stamp, Margaret Littlejohn,

Steve Nelson, David Qurino, and Paul Jones.

It was a big success. In the 4 years we ran the program, we

had 1 National Champion, 6 All Americans, and placed in the Tascosa Top

20 2 years making the Top 10 in 2001.

After graduating, I taught and Coached at Tascosa under

Johnny Cobb and Coached for West Amarillo Wrestling, a

youth wrestling program under Ryan Diaz.

Two years ago, I moved to Geneva, Switzerland after

marring a local Swiss. I currently teach physical education

for GIRSA, a private Jewish school and I Coach Wrestling/Grappling

classes at New Nation Academy, an MMA gym in Geneva. The concept

is new, but it is exciting and beginning to grow. I know as long

as I continue with the strategies and techniques that I grew up

with at the Maverick and under a strand of magnificent Alumni

Coaches, I will not fail.

I'm half way across the world representing the Maverick Boys

and Girls Club of Amarillo, Texas, and America."
