Shirley Cummins Tankersley Obituary

This is the wording in the Amarillo Globe Newspaper. Picture wouldn’t copy over

Shirley Cummins Tankersley: 1934-2014 Shirley Cummins Tankersley moved to her eternal home on July 22, 2014. She was eighty years old. Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 24, 2014, in Paramount Baptist Church with Scott Tankersley officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Shirley was born on February 26, 1934, in Gould, Oklahoma. Earl and Shirley Tankersley moved to Amarillo, Texas in 1967. She worked for numerous years in the Amarillo Independent School District at several schools, most notably Caprock High School. She is survived by the love of her life, Earl; her three children, Ann Sampier and husband Geary, Tommy Tankersley and wife Dana, and Scott Tankersley and wife Angie; eight-grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Shirley was a mother to countless, a friend to all, and believed in many when others had given up. Her family asks that all who come to celebrate her life wear bright colors to remember her glowing spirit. In lieu of flowers, a benefit account has been established at Amarillo National Bank, in the name of Shirley Tankersley or Mrs. Tank, for scholarships to be given to future Caprock High School graduates. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at the funeral home. Sign the online guest book at www.boxwellbrothers.com.
